spring on the farm
& a save the date!

This spring we have a toddler roaming the fields picking dandelions, yelling enthusiasms at the resting tractor, pulling up freshly tucked in plants, splashing in mud puddles, & encouraging a patient pace. In these moments of wonderment I have been remembering Mary Oliver’s, Worm Moon…
3 because it is spring; because once more the moon and the earth are eloping - a love match that will bring forth fantastic children who will learn to stand, walk, and finally run over the surface of earth; who will believe, for years, that everything is possible.
While the child of the farm is teaching us, the bustle of the season is now in full swing. Stillwind farmers are busy planting, planting, planting, weeding, planting, seeding, tidying, harvesting, row covering, bed prepping, & on & on. Freshly amended spring soil is now hosting tomatoes, cucumbers, salads, fennel, kale, broccolini, kohlrabi, beets, herbs, onions, shallots, zucchini, carrots, & more. There is nothing quite like the hopeful relief of a field filling up with food. I love knowing that the wee seedlings will soon be our July tomato sandwiches.
Speaking of future food, CSA season begins soon! We will be sending out detailed information to members soon, but we are also excited to share a save the date! Read on for more info <3
