Recipe Ideas…..
Two salad recipes I made this past weekend for our Pain Management Workshop, taught by the lovely Abigaile of Movement for Mental Health :)
Polenta, Kale, Basil, & Sausage Salad
Ingredients:
~ Polenta
While cooking I added a dash of cinnamon, heaping spoonful of honey, cayenne, 2 bay leaves, glug of olive oil, salt (to taste), & ground pepper. Add to the kale salad while warm.
~ Kale
Massaged in olive oil, salt, & vinegar / acid of choice ( I used a cabernet port, but ACV or balsamic would pair well)
~ Basil
Chopped and added to the salad, amount to your taste
~ Sausage (we used Crane Dance’s Tuscan Rosemary)
Roasted at 375 or 400, chopped in circles & added to the kale while warm
Broccolini, Celery, Kohlrabi Salad
Ingredients:
~ Broccolini
~ Celery
~ Kohlrabi
Chop all three of these into bite size pieces. I used two bunches of broccolini, two celery bunches from Clear Bottom Lake Farm, & 1 kohlrabi.
To dress these chopped veggies up I added (all to taste, my measurements are rarely exact):
~ Fenugreek
~ Sesame seeds
~ Berbere (Ethiopian spice blend)
~ Salt & pepper
~ Cashews (soaked raw, unsalted)
~ Apple Cider Vinegar
~ Maple Syrup
~ Olive oil + a dash of sesame oil
~ Mayo
~ Dijon Mustard
This salad has unlimited possibilities in my opinion! Some of my other favorite flavor / veggie variations include:
~ shaved cabbage, carrot, kohlrabi, miso slaw
~ date, pistachio, parsley, chili oil
Linked Recipes:
Savory Broccoli Cheddar Muffins
Carrot, Broccoli, Ginger Salad
Kohlrabi Fritters (my favorite!!)

As a full share member, you will pick up weekly.

On Farm pickup address: 12696 7 Mile Rd NE, Belding 48809
Grand Rapids pickup address: 1147 Fulton St E, GR
When you ordered a CSA, you selected a pickup option for the season. Please honor your pickup selection unless you make special arrangements with us to pick up at a different time or location. Any time produce leaves our cooler and heads to market for pickup, it loses a degree of freshness; if you don’t pick up your share, those veggies are at risk of being added to our compost pile!
If you miss a pickup, call (616-402-7315) or email us (stillwindfarm@proton.me) to make arrangements within the week and we can bring your share to the next Friday or Saturday farmers market.
Our CSA point of sale service, GrownBy, is new to us this year. We are still learning how to unlock all of its potential, but hopefully it’ll be a useful way of sending reminders, tracking orders, and taking diverse forms of payment. You probably received an invitation from GrownBy in the last month or two, thanks for accepting this and getting plugged in for the season. We’re not so good at computers but we’re trying our best to be secure with our (and your) data, which is why we are slowly moving away from Square.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions :)
xoxo,
Mik
